Todaro GA review

[edit]

Hi Tim. I've pinged you a couple times at Talk:Salvatore Todaro/GA1, but to my surprise, have yet to receive a response from you... This is perplexing because I had a small discussion with you above last summer about how I nominated these pages. The reviewer is very close to passing the article, it just needs a couple of quick adjustments, which would be great coming from you, in order to pass. The review has been on hold for almost a week now, would you please let me know if you are able to comment on this? Thank you. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:40, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. No worries. Thanks for the help in the end, and congrats on the GA! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 18:04, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, hope you're doing well. Please review some of the comments I've marked for you at Talk:Joseph Lonardo/GA1 when you've got time. Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:19, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging still isn't working. I wonder what the heck is going on? It's not just you, either. Pinging by others isn't working, either. - Tim1965 (talk) 04:28, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking into some of those comments. Regarding the ping, I had forgotten to sign them with four tildes at first, so I knew they weren’t going to go through, so just messaged you directly. I can try doing another test ping on you to see if there is an underlying issue that perhaps you could raise at admin notice board or village pump. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 05:53, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead, try that. I'd appreciate it. - Tim1965 (talk) 21:51, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Please see the talk of Alfred Polizzi if you haven’t gotten the notification already. Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 03:27, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Final check?

[edit]

May I kindly ask you to take a look at Talk:Mustang#Final_draft? As you were pinged in the earlier debate and we now need consensus to unlock the article and fix it, your input will help. Montanabw(talk) 16:41, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone home?

[edit]

Long time, no harass. I was locked in a dungeon at the Crew and recently escaped. Anyway, do you have a widescreen monitor? If so, can you look at Sixteenth Street Historic District and tell me if the photo layout is wonky. My laptop isn't wide screen and the photos all fit in the article text, but I know it might look different on other screens. APK whisper in my ear 05:38, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • You were at the Eagle in Anacostia, and we all know it. There's a reason for their St. Andrews cross. Anyway, the layout looks fine on my widescreen monitor. A little crowding in the first section, but you can see it at 100 percent (whatever that means) here and at 125 percent here. (I find 125 percent more readable on my widescreen.) There's that "photos on both sides of text" (or whatever Wikipedia jargon is for that) at 100 percent. I don't think it is worth worrying about. - Tim1965 (talk) 17:15, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You got me. I was the reason the Eagle was shut down...neighbors heard screams. I removed the big map from the infobox and switched it with the historic district map. Gracias. APK whisper in my ear 17:19, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How could they hear screams with that ball gag in your mouth? :) And by "ball gag", you know what I mean. - Tim1965 (talk) 17:20, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just going to link here. APK whisper in my ear 17:31, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's me again Margaret. Do you still have access to the WaPo archives? I'm trying to find this article: "F.H. Brooke, 84, Dies; Renowned Architect." from December 25, 1960. I love how even though I have a WaPo subscription, I can't seem to access the archives. I must be going to the wrong pages or something. I have access to the NYT archives, but that doesn't do me a lot of good with most DC articles. APK whisper in my ear 04:45, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I do have access. How would you like it sent to you? - Tim1965 (talk) 04:50, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just slip it through the gloryhole or either email. Unless there's another way/platform you can think of. APK whisper in my ear 04:52, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Flickr...maybe screenshart it then I'll save the photo so you can delete it. APK whisper in my ear 04:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"F.H. Brooke, 82, Dies" is the real title.... FWIW. Here ya go. - Tim1965 (talk) 04:58, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Saved, gracias. APK whisper in my ear 05:07, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Umm I don't mean to make this a recurring thing, but can you find two more WaPo obits por favor? (Frank Russell White and Robert O. Scholz) Do you still have access via the DC library or is there some online sorcery on the WaPo site I'm not aware of? APK whisper in my ear 01:07, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have access through my public library. Don't you? I'll find them and post them via the usual fashion. Give me 30 mintues. - Tim1965 (talk) 02:10, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I've never tried. I thought only DC would have it since it's local. Oops... I'll try to find my library login. APK whisper in my ear 02:16, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I used to access via the WaPo site, but it was so slow and clumsy. My library's database is a zillion times faster and easier to use. Here is Scholz and here is White. - Tim1965 (talk) 02:21, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bless you my child. APK whisper in my ear 03:09, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well I had no luck with the local library, but went to the DC library site and turns out you can be a member and have access to all the good stuff even if you live in Virginia (some counties, that is). I rejoined (no clue where my old library card is, it's been 7 years since we packed up and left Dupont) and just found the articles you linked to plus more and I'm a happy gay nerd right now. APK whisper in my ear 16:00, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You were a happy gay nerd before!! Now you just have less free time, because you can do research. :) - Tim1965 (talk) 17:58, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"This used to be my playground..."

[edit]

When I looked inside last weekend, it was depressing. But also neat to see that it was restored. Omega still has the sign even though it's a private residence now. The Eagle's old building on Benning Road might be designated a landmark, but it seems that's to avoid the building becoming a halfway house. APK whisper in my ear 02:55, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Sadlands" was wonderful. The upper lounge next to the postage stamp-sized dance floor was chock-a-block with bitchy twinks, the only not-clogged-with-drunks bar was in the hallway, and the video room played the best videos (even if no one danced there). Completely drunk one night in the mid-1990s, I took an absolutely naked man out of Badlands, walked around on P Street (my baseball cap covering what God gave him), got in a cab, and took him home. Frat House/Omega was not one of my faves, but that's usually because I hit Badlands so often. - Tim1965 (talk) 15:29, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love some quick help :)

[edit]

Hello Tim1965! I noticed that you're an extremely talented person and editor, and you seem so nice, so I was wondering if you'd be able to help me out! I am also very interested in films and actors, and I have edited quite a couple of articles such as yours, Carson MacCormac, and have created a multitude of articles, which almost all have been succesful. Besides one. I created an article for an actor in one of my favourite movies, Jesse Noah Gruman, and someone keeps on moving it back to the draft space telling me that it is under sourced, when we're at a point where I have a reference after every single sentence. He does not respond to my questions, so I was wondering if you could take a look at it and tell me what he means, or if you disagree with him, to accept it! I have the ability to move it to the main space myself, but I would rather not! It would be so greatly appreciated, you have no idea how much! :):) Thanks a bunch, Coreykai (talk) 00:09, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anthracite Breaker Question (c.1900)

[edit]

Hello and Happy New Year from down near Pittsburgh. Sort of an off-the-wall question for you. I'm doing some genealogical research on members of my family who came over from Wales to mine anthracite up in Northeastern PA. In the US Census for 1900, one of these men had an occupation listed that I can't quite make out. It looks to me like "Bradisk Man," or something similar. He may have been employed in a colliery/breaker. Does that (or any similar) term ring any bells with you?

Will also send you this question via e-mail.

Thanks in advance,

Hi, I am the COI editor who wrote the draft BLP for Steve Salis. I found your name listed as one of the more active members of the Wiki Project: Washington DC. I recently made an edit request on the Talk:Steve Salis page, but unfortunately no one has come to the page who is willing to make the edits. I am hoping that you won't mind taking a look at my request, and see if you can help improve the page as requested, and take off the advert tag that is on the page now. Thanks a lot! Article needs an update and some work

[edit]

Marvin Camel article needs work. Looks like some major edits made when a book came out about him, but sounds like PR for the book and possibly has copyvio problems. He popped up in the news this past week because his stolen championship belts were found (in a vehicle in a junkyard about to be crushed!), repaired and returned to him. Editing to add the larger story might be right up your alley. Montanabw(talk) 16:43, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:RFKennedy JFKennedy KMundt May1957.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:RFKennedy JFKennedy KMundt May1957.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the undo there. I meant to revert two edits. You're doing good work with the cites but the event added by the IP isn't notable enough. There's an article about the cartoon network but not about its launch. Toddst1 (talk) 00:19, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Back in 2015, you added a cite to this article here. I have tried to find an online source, but the Post doesn't seem to have an easily accessible archive (like in Newspapers.com or the like). The cite appears in your edits as :

<ref name=cheshire>{{cite news|last=Cheshire|first=Maine|title=This House of History Is Also a House of Mystery|work=The Washington Post|date=September 10, 1962|page=B3}}</ref>}}

I am pretty certain that the writer is supposed to be the reporter Maxine Cheshire but I am unable to verify that due to the difficulty I am having accessing any past Post editions. Do you have access to any Post archives? If so, would is be possible for you to post the text of the article on my page, or maybe the URL or perhaps email me a copy of the article? In any case, if you could verify my unconfirmed suspicion that the name is incorrect and then adjust the spelling that would be very helpful. If there is a problem with reliable sources conflicting over Scott Glenn's year of birth, Wikipedia guidelines say to add both dates (with reliable sources) and note in the text or a footnote that sources differ. Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
