Error

[edit]

Your recent bot run has applied the wrong Interwiki links for the EN article Long and short scales. This article should link to similar Long and short scale articles in other languages and NOT to the various 'List of Numbers' articles that the bot seems to have thought were more appropriate. I will revert - but please prevent your bot from making this mistake again. Thanks, Ian Cairns (talk) 16:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The problem originated in HE. Some article had an IW-link to the wrong place. I corrected the HE article, and run the bot again on both the correct and incorrect articles. Seems like the problem is solved. Therefore, I'm not adding this article to the bot's exception list, though I am adding it to my watchlist. Sorry for all the bother. טבעת-זרם (talk) 21:41, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another error

[edit]

Your bot has changed the interwiki links for the Hebrew alphabet from the coresponding Hebrew pages to the Arabic ones. The letters should direct to the Hebrew ones for it is the Hebrew Wikipedia. Epson291 (talk) 20:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You. Seems like the EN have "one Phoenician page for each letter", meaning one article for both the hebrew letter and the corresponding arabic letter. I've seen something you said about a discussion and a decision about that. Since other languages have two articles, one for each letter in each language, and since I'm using a common of-the-shelf bot, I think that bots are prone to change those IW links again and again. Personally, I will do what you asked, and also put the letters in my bots exception list, but maybe there should be a more systematic solution. טבעת-זרם (talk) 21:41, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Taba'at-Zerem is right - currently these letters are all mixed up in en.wiki. These articles should be consistently split to Phoenician, Hebrew and Arabic. I do it every once in a while on letters, but the work is long... --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 07:02, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it, the one Phoenician page for each letter is the current status of the situation. Epson291 (talk) 20:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Latin

[edit]

Hi - you should have a name in Latin letters. On en.wiki it's acceptable that your username is not Latin, but your signature should be Latin. See Wikipedia:Signatures#Non-Latin. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 07:05, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanx & Done. TaBaZzz (talk) 14:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassador

[edit]

This is an error that I have fixed. "大使" means "ambassador", while "外交官" means "diplomat", this is the case for both Chinese and Japanese. English article for Diplomat is simply a redirect. I cannot see any other issues that might've caused this problem. --Voidvector (talk) 06:00, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like the problem is more complicated. bots from all kinds of languages will keep doing mistakes, untill the following problems be solved by people, who know those languages. Please see this: [1] TaBaZzz (talk) 18:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Could you please prevent the bot from trying to put the "it:Xylocopa violacea" link in the Carpenter bee article? In the English Wikipedia, Xylocopa violacea is a separate article. Thanks, Dyanega (talk) 07:00, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to understand why the bot did it. I found that en:carpenter bee have links to some other languages, and they all link to it:Xylocopa violacea. This is why the bot gets confused. Also, I don't know italian, but the page it:Ape legnaiuola seems to be empty. When the interwiki.py bot sees that, it tries to change it to something else, according to links it finds in other languages. Could you please help me, and check those links in other languages? TaBaZzz (talk) 08:33, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is no reason anything should be linking to Xylocopa violacea; that's a stupid mistake thanks to the Italian wiki. I went in and created an Ape legnaiuola link there, so maybe that will help. Dyanega (talk) 07:20, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I run the bot again on those articles and it suggested linking from en:Carpenter bee directly to it:Xylocopa (because it:Ape legnaiuola is a redirect page), and from en:Xylocopa violacea directly to fr:Abeille charpentière (becuase fr:Xylocopa violacea is a redirect page). I'm afraid this is not the situation you want. Please remember that the links must be to the exact articles - and then bots will not change them. Please see if you could do anything about it. Thanx, TaBaZzz (talk) 18:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Could you also prevent the bot from trying to put the "fr:Cover Up (Ministry album)" link in the Cover Up article? The article is about the TV show. Thanks, Lenaxena 13:56, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I manually corrected the problem on the articles. Then I run the bot on those articles again - and it didn't suggest any more changes. Thanx. TaBaZzz (talk) 18:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Open University

[edit]

I have reverted your last edit in this article since the Hebrew article is about an open university in general, and the article here (en.wiki) is about the open university in the UK. regards, Broccoli (talk) 17:57, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And I've reverted it again as it re-added itself; in fact that's three times now! --Blowdart | talk 09:28, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect interwiki add

[edit]

On the article for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), your bot added a link to new:मार्ता, which is pronounced "Marta" in Nepal Bhasa but refers to a city in Nepal, not to Atlanta's rapid transport system. This is not the first time this incorrect interwiki link has been bot-added to this article. I manually corrected this. Thanks. Betterusername (talk) 01:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I noticed that this bot recently removed lmo:Memoria USB from USB flash drive, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=USB_flash_drive&diff=prev&oldid=237915061 then another bot User:Jotterbot added it back. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=USB_flash_drive&diff=next&oldid=237915061

I don't know Malayalam, so don't know if the link is correct or not, but it seemed stranger that TaBOT-zerem would remove the link, since it mostly seems to deal with he: links, so I posted it here. If the problem is with the other bot, please let them know. Thanks. Zodon (talk) 20:34, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're correct. I will fix this problem. please forgive me for that mistake. --TaBaZzz (talk) 00:14, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My bot scanned LMO and added all the missing links. But then I noticed that it started to delete them again. A bot fighting with itself? I did some research and found those two pages: meta:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Lombard Wikipedia and hard-coded special case to get rid of thousands of broken links to the Lombard Wikipedia. Seems like the designers of the bot did intend to delete the interwiki links to LMO. --TaBaZzz (talk) 11:14, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bris

[edit]

The proper link is to Bris (http://yi.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%AA) not Metiztzah. -- Avi (talk) 01:00, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabet

[edit]

Not a big issue, but your bot accidentally (it seems) misplaced interwiki links out of alphabetical order in this edit. +mt 14:49, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you're talking about NL coming after JA. I checked en.wiki homepage, and the interwikis ther are in the same orger (NL before JA). I don't know why it's like that, but it seems to be consistent. Thank you for your attention. --TaBaZzz (talk) 15:01, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

don't remove redirects

[edit]

Your bot's recent edit to Extended SMTP changed the link to the German article from de:ESMTP to de:Simple Mail Transfer Protocol#Extended SMTP. As per WP:R#NOTBROKEN, such changes to eliminate redirects are usually bad and should not be done. I will fix the article, but the bot also needs to be fixed to not do this. Little error on WP:fr with TaBOT-zerem

[edit]

Hello, I noticed your bot added a wrong interlanguage link [5]. As you can in history, next bot fixed it, but why your bot didn't add directly the good link? Your interwiki.py is it daily update ? That's just for warn you to this little mistake and I hope for you to have global bot status. --Sisyph (talk) 22:56, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mmmh, actually that seems more important: [6], I am still thinking that's because your pywikipedia librairy has to be older. --Sisyph (talk) 23:08, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My Apologies. I corrected those errors. Bot version was from 23.3.3009. Quite recent, but still - I updated to today's version. Disambiguation interlinks are a complicated matter and consist of similar sounds and meaning across different languages, and of course concerns policy of each wikipedia. The bot added those links according to IW links that already existed on other wikis. Obviously they were incorrect. Hope the links are correct now - but if they're not - please feel free to notify me again. TaBaZzz (talk) 16:58, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

(This even applies for infoboxes.)

Thanks and my best wishes.

Hebrew Wikivoyage

[edit]

Hi טבעת-זרם. I noticed that you helped develop the many articles about Israel in the English Wikivoyage. Since you know Hebrew too, I just wanted to invite you to help expand an article or two at the Hebrew Wikivoyage. I have been one of the leading editors at the Hebrew Wikivoyage for a long while, and although we have accomplished quite a lot over there, our little community of editors hasn't grown much in the recent years, and therefore there is only so much content the few active editors can produce alone. If possible, please help expand a bit one or two of the Hebvoy articles about your favorite destination/s. Thanks in advance. ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 17:32, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Correction request in Israel–Lebanon relations

[edit]

Hello.

Can you remove in the country comparison section in Israel–Lebanon relations, Arabic as an official language of Israel (it no longer is since in 2018, after Basic Law: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People was passed) and French as an official language of Lebanon (Arabic is the sole official and national language according to the Constitution of Lebanon, French is not official)? As this article is protected, only administrators and extended users are allowed to edit it. Because I am neither type of these users, I cannot correct these mistakes.

Thank you, Karalainza (talk) 14:53, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nefesh B'Nefesh updates

[edit]

Hi TaBaZzz. As you seem to have an extensive interest in Israel-related topics, I would appreciate if you could take a look at my edit request to update the Nefesh B'Nefesh page.

I also have a draft of an article for Rabbi Fass, the founder of Nefesh B'Nefesh, in my userspace. A 2021 discussion resulted in a redirect. I have made significant changes to the draft, and am bringing it to the Wiki community to consider for an independent article. Would you mind considering that, too? Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Glorification of martyrdom in Palestinian society. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Hebrew Map of Gaza City

[edit]

Shalom, could you advise what the incorrect translations are on the English version of the map Hebrew map of Gaza City? Toda, Keizers (talk) 20:46, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is un clear if the English version is solely based on the Hebrew version, because discrepancies appear even at the structural level: Hebrew version has one title, but English have multiple. English have quoted text that doesn't appear in the Hebrew version. The un-natural use of the English language show the text comes from machine translation -- I can't see anyone fluent enough in Hebrew and English to make such translations. e.g. the word "ראוי" is translated to "appropriate" instead of "should", the character "שמשון הגיבור" is translated to "Samson hero" And so on... For the sake of reliability I'd suggest not to Photoshop the image itself, and leave the original image as it was. Additionally I would suggest establishing the reliability of the original map with additional sources, because one twit image is not enough here. TaBaZzz (talk) 08:52, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation

[edit]

Hello,

I noticed you have been editing some health-related articles, and I wanted to invite you to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. It's a good place to get advice about Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) or Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Medicine-related articles. Wikipedia:WikiProject Hospitals is a smaller group that might be more directly relevant. If you've ever got questions that you think we can help with, please feel free to put the page(s) on your watchlist or to say hello some time. Hi, I just created a Draft:List of Conflicts in the Land of Israel. There exist similar articles for a List of Conflicts in the Near East and a List of Conflicts in Egypt. I think it deserves to be approved, but there will likely be those who don't want the article to be approved. If you think it should be approved, please voice your input! כל טוב. Misrepresentation of sources

[edit]

This edit misrepresents the source cited. You added that Israel "allegedly" opened fire on civilians, whereas the source, the Financial Times, says flat out Dozens of Palestinians were killed on Thursday during a chaotic attempt to get humanitarian aid into northern Gaza, during which Israeli forces opened fire on civilians. If you continue to misrepresent the sources by adding doubt to what they report as fact for Israeli actions I will be asking that you be restricted from editing in this topic area. WP:BLUE

[edit]

In case you're not familiar with WP:BLUE, it's not necessary to require a reference for everything. While overall I think your contributions to Wikipedia are positive, I wouldn't put this edit as one of your finest. Although M.Bitton deserves a shout out for going along with you and providing a reference, the addition of the reference does not really add much value (as expressed in M.Bitton's edit summary).
