Richard Bevan

[edit]

Hi, can you put the Richard Bevan page back up please? It was a sketch I'm planning to flesh out after Christmass. Richard is a fairly famous local artist in South Wales. He won the National Eisteddfod (Festival) acouple of years ago and has had shows all over the country. Try googling him.

Cnwb's RfA

[edit]

Alhutch,

Thanks so very much for supporting my Request for Admin. The final result was 38/0/0. I'm looking forward to spending my summer holidays shut away in a darkened room, drinking G&Ts and playing with my new tools ;-) Please accept this Tim Tam as a token of my gratitude. You know, i was WONDERING why there wasn't already a page on here. Thanks for taking care of that typo on the New England Patriots page and my erronious Romeo Crenel page. jfg284 you were saying? 14:33, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not leaving

[edit]

Thanks. I've decide not to leave due to the kind comments from people like you. I couldn't help but notice that there is not an article on Children's Organ Transplant Association yet it gets over 11,000 hits. I have to go to sleep soon but I just thought that I'd point that out and that inclusion of Allan Glenn is the article would be, IMO, appropriate. Making his name a redirect there would also be apropriate. Again, thanks. -JCarriker 06:20, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Although my RfA is not over yet, I figured that since so many people voted before it had been posted, I may as well start thanking people before it wraps up. It'll take me that long to thank everyone who voted anyway! Thank you, Alhutch, for your support (and your comments) - I'll do my best as an admin to make the reality rise to the level of the dream. Question for you

[edit]

I'm sure I'm not the only one who will wonder... I've added an additional basically "generic" question to your RfA, at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Alhutch. Just curious what limited your contributions so extensively during the period between April and August, no accusation is intended, nor should any be implied... Tomertalk 08:47, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've voted. If you're sufficiently interested, you'll notice that I am also on the same chopping block. If you decide to take part in my own RfA, I hope you'll be as thorough in your analysis as I have been in considering my vote on yours. (Obviously I have a perceived hopefulness-goal in mind, but will not hold whatever opinion at which you arrive independently against you...) All the best. Tomertalk 10:08, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. As I mentioned in my vote in your favor (albeit not very extensively), I hold self-noms up to a much higher standard than I hold 3rd-party noms up to. In 2 years of wikiwork, you are, in fact, the first self-nom for whom I have voted support, and given your paltry (by comparison to some others, I mean) contributions, that's saying a lot. My view concerning your article and Talk contributions is that you have quickly come to a thorough understanding of the ideals as well as the intricate workings of WP. Any opposition to your candidacy I foresee will be contingent upon your low edit count, not your editory contributions. If your RfA fails, take heart... If you continue to contribute at the rate, and in the manner in which you have in the past 4 months, I will be happy to nominate you for adminship myself in another 2 months (regardless of whether or not my current RfA succeeds or fails). If this current RfA of yours fails, just lemme know when the time is right, that I promised to nominate you, and I'll review your history then, in order to determine the proper nomination procedure. Tomertalk 10:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if you don't mind, I'll go through my vote on your RfA and properfix the pronouns. On a sidenote...are you a Quaker? If so, you might be interested in adding Category:Quaker Wikipedians to your userpage. (Just asking bcz you created Amesbury Friends Meeting House...) Tomertalk 10:39, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
OK...hope you don't mind my edsum too much. I thought it was funny, but I recognize that some people aren't as comfortable with such brazen language... (I'd change the edsum to make you feel less uncomfortable if necessary, if possible, but doing so is beyond my capability, given my present level of access...) Tomertalk 10:44, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hearty folk indeed.  :-p You gotta be, in order to withstand the storm. We Jews have known this for millennia, believe me, I understand. :-) Tomertalk 10:48, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise. What a relief to interact with someone whose soul is buoyant. Ciao bello! Tomertalk 10:52, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please vote to keep my image on Wikipedia. You may voice your opinion on whether or not to have the image deleted at [Dec 10th images]. I also wanted to let you know that it looks like my WBC personal subpage will remain on Wikipedia.--JuanMuslim 1m 22:59, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your support of my RfA. The results of the request was 18/0/1. With the help of your support vote, I am now a bona-fide Wikipedia sysop/admin. Hey Alhutch/Archive02! Thanks for your support on my RfA. The final outcome was (57/4/3), so I am now an administrator. If you need help, have a question, or just want to chat (or if I get out of line!), please don't hesitate to let me know! Again, thanks! :D

Congratulations!

[edit]

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia 04:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Hardy

[edit]

The edits I have made to Matt Hardys Wiki listing can be confirmed by accessing the web address I posted. The move was made as an attempt to remove Matt from the spotlight of the site to make it a more even project for Matt, Jeff, their father, and Shannon Moore among others. You were not stepping on my toes, I was giving you that information since I know Wiki is muchly trying to stay ontop of the proper information being posted after the debacle that hit the news. Vandalism on Israel

[edit]

I blocked the IP for 24 hours and then found that you just blocked him for 3 hours. I think 24 hours is par for his action. What do you suggest we do? Shd I change the message to reflect it to 24 hours? reply asap on my talkpage. --Gurubrahma 10:53, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Heya

[edit]

The block of User:196.25.255.242 is affecting a few of the regulars. Found out about this in IRC. Would you consider unblocking? I usually try not to block for more than a few hours for IP addresses, at least for ones that look to be shared by ISPs. - Ta bu shi da yu 12:53, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the vandal blocking.

[edit]

My current ISP's proxy cluster meant I was also randomly blocked because of 196.25.255.242's vandalism, but I think you did the right thing in blocking it - retrying a few edit saves is better than having to clean up vandalism later. So, many thanks for your anti-vandal work. — Jeandré, 2005-12-14t17:32z

Congrats on adminship and good to see that you are already using your new admin abilities to fight vandals. --a.n.o.n.y.m t 18:56, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I listed George Gerbner on the talk page only because the name rang a bell, and I checked incoming links. Checking incoming links is probably a good thing to do (in this case, Gerbner is one of the key names listed on List of basic communication topics), but I don't think anybody regards it as negligent to omit this check. The article was a valid CSD, that's what counts. --- Charles Stewart 22:52, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Hardy...Continued...

[edit]

Alhutch,

Just wanted to say thank you for helping me keep Matt Hardys Wiki listing clean and clear of vandelism. As I grow more familiar with information about others listed, you have given me the courage to update them as well. JMPrice 01:16, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to keep seeing you around

[edit]

Hi, I just seem to keep bumping into you on the anti-vandal work I've been doing recently - you occasionally beat me to the punch on reverts and you often follow up with a block or extra warning right after I'm there. I haven't been quite as active on AfDs, but I could swear I see you there all the time as well. I'm fairly new with only a few hundred edits under my belt, and perhaps I'll burn out on maintenance before I have enough experience to consider an RfA, but I was thinking about going admin at some point, if only to do your job when you're not around. :P

I don't really have much to say, just noting the interesting coincidence (or not) that you seem to pop up all the time. I figured it couldn't hurt wondering if you were noticing the same thing. --Snurks T C 08:35, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re "why yes": Thanks! Right now I'm trying to get more acclimated with Wikipedia processes other than vandal reversions and AfDs: all the backlogs, RfCs, and so forth, as well as figuring out the subtleties of WP markup and just generally getting the hang of things. It's almost a bit overwhelming - what's a good place to look for something constructive to do that doesn't require admin privileges? Engaging in almost nothing other than vandal fighting and AfD nominations/voting makes me feel like an awful deletionist, and I usually like to be on the more easygoing side of the fence. --Snurks T C 08:57, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's borderline. POV, but in my opinion not quite vandalism. And it looks like he might be gradually improving the quality of his edits. I'd say don't block, at least for now. Everyking 07:47, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
