Edit of the University for Peace page

Hello Minimac, we at the University for Peace noticed that you have undone additions that we are making to the University for Peace page. The reason for your changes is copyright material. We hold the copyright to the material, so there should not be any problem. Please let us know in case there are still issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.200.49.225 (talk) 17:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Galatasaray Men's Basketball Team

I' d like to change the article' s name from Galatasaray Cafe Crown to Galatasaray Men's Basketball Team. Could you please help me how to do it? Because the sponsorship was ended. Thanks. Sisman Yanko (talk) 08:13, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

OK. There should be a move tab at the top of the page Galatasaray Cafe Crown. Click on that, and then you'll see a form where there are boxes to fill in. All you have to do is fill in the "To new title" and the "Reason" box. After that, you may click on the Move page button; unfortunately, the move doesn't work until the Galatasaray Men's Basketball Team page gets deleted. When that happens, you (or another administrator) can move the page. Minima© (talk) 11:18, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for help. I did it. Sisman Yanko (talk) 14:14, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Scotch College, Melbourne

Hi Minimac,

I would like to take the chance to explain my recent edits to Scotch College, Melbourne. There are unintentional puns in the article, and therefore I deemed it necessary to illuminate them so people who view the page are alert to this. But I do understand how my edits may have been construed as obstructive. Is there a more discreet way in which "pardon the pun" can be inserted? Perhaps as a footnote? Cheers PunPolice (talk) 07:40, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Energy in Afghanistan

Hi. Unless I'm missing something, which is always possible, I'm not aware of the reasons for this edit - you reinserted material which is identical to the sources, or, in one case, very closely paraphrased. It looks very much like a copyright violation, which is why I originally removed the text. - Bilby (talk) 12:04, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry if you don't understand this, as it's quite hard to explain. What I was trying to do was investigate each revision from Seair21's edits on that article and see which ones were the edits that did not copy the text from the source (i.e. http://www.sari-energy.org/PageFiles/Countries/Afghanistan_Energy_detail.asp). I found out that this revision was as far as I got when I tried to restore non-copyrighted text, which is the reason why I restored an older revision by the currently blocked editor. I was trying to be helpful and restore some text but still try not to create a copyvio. Minima© (talk) 19:32, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
That makes sense and was a good idea, but unfortunately every edit was copyvio, from multiple sources, which is why I was forced to revert all of Seair21's edits on that article. So when you restored the bulk of the edits, you also accidentally restored the bulk of the copyvio that Seair21 had added. Anyway, I've removed it again, so all should be good, and accidents happen. :) I've also been through all of Seair21's edits since the editor started editing, and removed everything that was copied, so hopefully the editor will catch up on copyright policy - presuming they wish to return. It was one of those cases where a few people had picked up on copyright problems with some of the edits, but no one seems to have spotted the extent of the problem until now. :( I considered opening a CCI, but with only 400 edits, it seemed easier just to handle it and not add to the backlog. - Bilby (talk) 01:04, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

CP Board

Hey Minimac, great to see you clerking at CP. I just wanted to drop by the let you know that it's best to address articles which have been listed 5 or more days first before the earlier listings. When the article is tagged, five days are allotted for editors to propose a rewrite or get OTRS permission. After 7 days, an administrator can delete the article is substantial problems still exist. I find addressing the older entries is more beneficial as a percentage, although small, require little attention when I review it.--NortyNort (Holla) 09:54, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

The article name was the same as the username that created it, which led me to believe the article was promotional in nature. Anyway, I'll take the name to UAA. 21655 T/01 05:00, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for finding the mess there. :P I've cleared the plot summaries to make way for clean, put hidden notes at each episode to remind that plot summaries must be written from scratch, and put an edit notice on the page warning contributors about it. Nevertheless, there's a really high chance that the content will make its way back. I've watchlisted the article in case this becomes an issue and I need to take further steps (like semi-protecting the article), but would be grateful if you could watch it, too! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:56, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Further investigation into user block enquiry

Dear Minimac,

There is further responses to actions you commented on regarding Warring by User:Tony0106. Tony has since posted a rude and negative reply following his 24 hours block. It may be worth noting too, that the same user has received numerous warnings since 2006 for copyright violations, and even a warning for warring back in 2008.

Hi Minimac! I've come to you because I saw that you are a copyright clerk. Could you please help me out with the article Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly? Even though there are 43 articles in queue, I request you to take a look because this article was supposed to to be featured on DYK and I would really be obliged if you helped me out here. Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 05:29, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

OK then! I'll have a look for you. Minima© (talk) 08:03, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi again! Thanks again for trying to help me out. Anyways, I prepared a /Temp. Maybe you would like to have a look and then publish it. Regards, Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 10:02, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
I probably don't need to thank you, because I have already made a start on trying to remove copied and pasted text on the article itself [1] [2]. Creating a temp page is actually quite a good idea, but as all the content is kept on the mainspace, I thought it would be quicker for me to remove the text from there. Minima© (talk) 16:48, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
I created a temp page because the info you removed in your 2 edits were valuable, so I thought of making a temp page so that the copyvio issue is resolved and the info is kept. Thus, I request you to review the temp page, and if the issue is sorted, change the text to the text of the page. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 17:50, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Further, I believe we can delete the tag after replacing the info and add the "cleaned" note on 2011 August 31. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 17:52, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for resolving this issue. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 19:21, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I noticed you blanked the copyright violation material on Otate no Ran, but all of the copyrighted material is still in the history - shouldn't that be rolled back to remove it from wikipedia? --Sgtkabuki (talk) 18:16, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I don't quite understand what you mean by the term "rolled back". Do you mean reverting to an earlier version, or requesting the history to be deleted as well? Minima© (talk) 18:51, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
my vague understanding of the process is that if copyrighted material is posted to Wikipedia it also needs to be removed from this history. I guess I thought this was done by "rolling back" to a previous version, which eliminates all of the copyrighted material from the history. Basically, if copyrighted material is still in the history, it is still on wikipedia, and still a copyright violation, yes? --Sgtkabuki (talk) 14:49, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes that's right. And also, I can't roll back to an earlier version because the copyrighted text was added from the start. I may also ask an admin to delete the revisions as an alternative to hiding the copyrighted content, as deleting the history also deletes all the users' edits to that article. Atlantis: The Lost Empire copyvio

Hello, I completely rewrote a new plot summary for Atlantis: The Lost Empire to replace the copyvio plot and posted it on the article's talk-page. I was wondering what the steps were now as to implementing it within the article. Do I have to wait for an admin to remove the tag or can I remove it and replace it with my summary? Thanks for your help and advice. DrNegative (talk) 11:49, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

In general you do have to wait for an admin to remove the copyvio tag, but I also have the permission to remove copyvio tags as well, as I have plenty of experience in the copyright area. Anyway, I have investigated the content on the discussion page and it was very well written. I have removed the tag and re-added the plot section for you. [3]. World Nuclear University

Hi Minimac,

I'm new to wikipedia and I need your help with my article which you tagged as a Copyright Violation, the article is the World Nuclear University. You were right because I basically copied and pasted information from my own website but I didn't think that obviously Wikipedia didn't know I was the same person. What I would like to do now is to start it anew as also the title needs to be changed - I forgot to put spaces between the words. The article was marked as a copyright violation on Wednesday September 28th, will it be deleted after 7 days (that means this Wednesday 5th October) if nothing happens? Will it disappear with all the history? Let me know if you have any other more sensible solution.

thanks for your help!

WNU (talk) 09:55, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

I have moved the page for you (i.e. moved WorldNuclearUniversity to World Nuclear University. If you have written all the text on the site and would like to copy this onto Wikipedia you may like to see WP:Donating copyrighted materials; and you should also state on the article's talk page that you own the content using a free license. I hope that page will guide you what you can and can't donate. In response to your last message; if the page does get deleted, you can ask the admin who deleted the article (Not Peter E. James, as he blanked the article) to restore the page if you would like more time to work on it. That way the history will be restored as well. Minima© (talk) 07:29, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Minimac, sorry to bother you again but last week I rewrote my article, I was waiting for approval (even if I probably didn't notify anyone) and now it disappeared from my contributions, actually the section MyContribution is empty now. My article is still on though with the Copyright warning saying that I can't modify it until an administrator or a copyright clerk resolves the issue. about Cluebot, and N.American schools vandalising, that you put in {{vandalism information}}

Where tid you find these two facts out? You put in {{vandalism information}} that Cluebot was down and North American schools were vandalising. Where did you find this out? Also, by Cluebot, do you mean ClueBot NG, or one of the other (and inactive) Cluebots? Thank youcan't see character? (see my contributions) 22:59, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

I guess I haven't clarified what I said over there yesterday. The "North American Schools" part was the time I discovered a lot of vandalism from schools in USA and Canada. I didn't actually 'find out' that sort of information, although I have found out that there were lots of blocks with the schoolblock reason over there. As for the ClueBot query, I noticed over here that it wasn't working (and it still isn't at the time posted) since about 09:00 UTC, and I was talking about ClueBot NG. Hi! I've been helping out a bit at WP:SCV recently and am still learning my way around. I'm curious as to why you tagged Charles Henry McKiernan with a "cut and paste" copyvio tag rather than blanking it for CP investigation, which is, I think, what I would have done. It seems to me that there's been a little tinkering here and there with the words, but it appears to be a clear violation of the 1979 copyright material (which is reproduced by permission) on the public library website. Here's the Duplication Detector report. Could you have another look? If I've made a mistake, please let me know.--CharlieDelta (talk) 06:50, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for asking me about this. It was a bit of an accident just putting up a copypaste tag when there is a clear copyvio. Anyway, I have blanked the page and will soon present the problem on WP:Copyright problems. Minima© (talk) 07:24, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Whether it's a school IP or not one procedure that can be followed is to report the IP to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Edit that page and there will be some instructions that you will have to follow. Minima© (talk) 17:13, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

The article Peter Friedhofen has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. bobrayner (talk) 19:44, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Gdansk-Vote [4] : "In biographies of clearly German persons, the name should be used in the form Danzig (Gdansk) and later Danzig exclusively. In biographies of clearly Polish persons, the name should be used in the form Gdansk (Danzig) and later Gdansk exclusively. Persons controversial follow the guidelines according to the applicable period as decided above. Similar applies to other place names in the region that shares a history between Poland and Germany." The decision was for Danzig during the period of 1308 to 1945. The nationality issue of Copernicus is well documented in the article [5]. We are talking of the period between 1308 to 1945: "The first reference of one name for Gdansk/Danzig in an article should also include a reference to the other name, e.g. Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland) or Gdansk (Danzig). All later occurrences of the name follow the rules for the periods as voted above."[6] and "For locations that share a history between Germany and Poland, the first reference of one name should also include a reference to other commonly used names, e.g. Stettin (now Szczecin, Poland) or Szczecin (Stettin)."[7] Enforcement: "Violations against the rule established by the outcome of this vote can be reverted exempt from the 3RR rule. In more complex edits, only the place names can be reverted exempt from the 3RR rule according to the outcome of this vote, additional changes fall again under the 3RR rule. The reverted user should receive a note or link of the vote results on this page. Thanks

For the barnstar. I really resent the time I have to waste clearing up copyvio. Especially when the editor denies it. Dougweller (talk) 18:07, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

My talk page

Your removal of others' comments from my talk page was unwarranted and unwelcome. Please do not do that again. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:11, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

JP White wiki

Hi, I created the wiki page for a friend a year ago. The friends career really was of little to know consequence and most of the information on the wikipedia page was beefed up. He really doesn't warrant having his own wiki as he's not known outside of his former band Vains Of Jenna. He is no longer working in entertainment (he is now a trucker and wannabe tattoo artist), thus as said above, does not warrant his own wiki page. I only helped him make the the wiki page last year to help him garner more credibility towards a work endeavor. His page should be a re-direct to Vains Of Jenna, like the other band members are. I think Lizzie Devine may have his own entry, but he was the only member who was noticeable outside of the band, and has done further work in the music industry since leaving the band. A trucker who once played bass in a marginally famous band, on the other hand does not need his own wikipedia entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.110.69.178 (talk) 04:53, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Hey, dude. I have an offer to talk about the issue in TALK. What else should I do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sigiheri (talkcontribs) 20:24, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

RFA / UFAA

Hi Minimac. Firstly, thank you so very much for supporting my RFA. I was curious, since you generously opted to support my candidacy with out my answer, and now that it's over, how did I fare in answering it? Thanks once again, Mkdwtalk 17:51, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations on getting promoted, by the way. The only answer I disagree with is "AdamsParkSecurity" as it is literally named after the company, not someone called "Adam Park", therefore that username is not acceptable. I would've blocked him for that. I agree with Pleasesuckme as not being appropriate, and the fact that BOBotto doesn't conflict with existing policies, thus being acceptable, but it probably could've been clearer by saying that there is the word "Bot" but not in the suffix.
