This user is aware of the designation of the following topics as contentious topics: post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles He should not be given alerts for those areas.

The fourth round of the competition has finished, with anyone scoring less than 673 points being eliminated. It was a high scoring round with all but one of the contestants who progressed to the final having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were

• Epicgenius, with 2173 points topping the scores, gained mainly from a featured article, 38 good articles and 9 DYKs. He was followed by
• Sammi Brie, with 1575 points, gained mainly from a featured article, 28 good articles and 50 good article reviews. Close behind was
• Thebiguglyalien, with 1535 points mainly gained from a featured article, 15 good articles, 26 good article reviews and lots of bonus points.

Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them and within 24 hours of the end of the final. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! I know, good enough for the playoffs. Mubhoshgu, a month or more ago I blocked someone, or more than one, or was involved with--a disruptive editor who kept adding the results of presidential elections to small localities. I think it mainly involved towns up in Yankeeland, like New England. I just blocked this guy, who started his career up there in the Northeast as well, and I'm wondering if you or any of your page watchers/fellow saboteurs remember what I'm talking about. I know there was some discussion on a talk page or other venue, about whether that information was noteworthy in the first place. Guideline and policy news

• Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. All former administrators may now only regain the tools following a request at the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard within 5 years of their most recent admin action. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
• Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.

Technical news

• Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.

Arbitration

• The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
• An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.

On 4 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Al LeBoeuf, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Al LeBoeuf was diagnosed with a rare condition in 2012 from an injury that he suffered in 1985? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Al LeBoeuf. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Al LeBoeuf), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Hello,

I'm sorry to bother you with this, but Marcell.Lovas93 is editing in a manner that many people seem to disagree with, including me. Twenty (one manual that wasn't listed as such) of their 30 article space edits have been reverted, and I believe at least two more of them should be. I have reverted them twice. You warned them about WP:DE issues here, which is why I'm messaging you. The reason I'm bringing this up is that now on at least two occasions, the editor seems to have made up what a source says. Here with a quote about "historic nepotism" that doesn't appear in the sources as far as I can see, and here with the changing of "gouging" to "raising". They've been warned a few times, so should I bring this to WP:ANI or just drop it? They are editing very slowly, so it's not an urgent problem, but I was hoping they would stop by now.

Thank you for your work on the Tulsi Gabbard article, disinformation should be called out when it is asserted. I'm trying to improve the article by adding more information from verifiable sources. I find much of the article seems to be written in a way that presents her in the best light possible. Much of her claims on Russia/Ukraine and Syria are debunked.
