Formatting issue

[edit]

The formatting on the first part of this article has been completely messed up for nearly a week ever since the last edit. Please fix. 2001:14BA:9CBC:4100:49AC:128F:4467:3B7D (talk) 19:03, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with editing the taxonomy box in the infobox

[edit]

I’m trying to edit this article so that it displays the genus instead of the species since that is what the first paragraph in the article states. I tried reading a lot of information and looking at other articles, but I can’t seem to figure it out. Can you help me fix this? Please ping me when responding. Interstellarity (talk) 13:59, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Interstellarity: This looks to have been done - RichT|C|E-Mail 17:18, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Better wording needed

[edit]

"Giraffes live in herds of related females and their offspring or bachelor herds of unrelated adult males but are gregarious and may gather in large aggregations" is rather infelicitous as gregarious and aggregation are versions of the same Latin word. Could we say "groups"? 90.240.117.141 (talk) 17:19, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just noting that this has been done (aggregations to groups). pillowcrow 22:13, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anatomical photos

[edit]

@LittleJerry: These photos of sex characteristics were removed because they were in the wrong section of the article. Should the photos appear in this section instead? Jarble (talk) 00:52, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We already have photos there. I don't think we need the photos you want to add. LittleJerry (talk) 01:40, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LittleJerry: This article does not have any photos or illustrations of giraffes' sex differences or sex characteristics.
These photos would be relevant to this section, but should the article not include them because readers might find them distasteful? Jarble (talk) 04:17, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There not as relevant as images of mating or a mother-calf bond. We have enough photos and they all perfectly illustrate the text. All species of mammal have genital differences and they don't all need be shown in every article. I think I've explained enough so let's not beat a dead horse.
