[edit]First attested in the Bullyu dugongbu si eonhae (分類杜工部詩諺解 / 분류두공부시언해), 1481, as Middle Korean 밋 (Yale: mìs). From Middle Korean 밋다〮 (Yale: mìstá, “to reach”) as a calque of 及 (“to reach, and”).[1] From Old Korean 及叱 (*MIs), 及只 (*MISk).
