     […] 老齢(ろうれい)のため何(なに)かと修繕代(しゅうぜんだい)の嵩(かさ)む自動車(じどうしゃ)を一寸怨(ちょっとうら)めしそうに見(み)たが、もとよりそれは心(こころ)からの恨(うら)みでは毛頭(もうとう)なく寧(むし)ろ長(なが)い間(あいだ)、自分(じぶん)と苦難(くなん)を倶(とも)にして来(き)たために、こんなにも古(ふる)ぼけた傷(いた)ましい姿(すがた)になり果(は)てたトラックへの限(かぎ)りない哀惜(あいせき)のこころであった。
