הִתְחַתֵּן • (hitḥatén) (hitpa'el construction)

1. To marry, to get married, to wed: to become a spouse or spouses.

   היא לא רצתה להתחתן איתו. ― hí ló rats'tá l'hitḥatén itó ― She didn't want to marry him.

   מתי תתחתנו? ― matái titḥat'nú? ― When will you get married?

2. (biblical) To become in-laws, to marry one's daughter.

     וְהִתְחַתְּנוּ אֹתָנוּ; בְּנֹתֵיכֶם תִּתְּנוּ־לָנוּ, וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּ תִּקְחוּ לָכֶם.

     vəhitḥattənu otánu; bənotēchém tittənu-lánu, vəet-bənotḗnu tiqḥú lachém.

     And intermarry with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.
