- To marry, to get married, to wed: to become a spouse or spouses.
- היא לא רצתה להתחתן איתו. ― hí ló rats'tá l'hitḥatén itó ― She didn't want to marry him.
- מתי תתחתנו? ― matái titḥat'nú? ― When will you get married?
- (biblical) To become in-laws, to marry one's daughter.

- וְהִתְחַתְּנוּ אֹתָנוּ; בְּנֹתֵיכֶם תִּתְּנוּ־לָנוּ, וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּ תִּקְחוּ לָכֶם.
