[edit]From Parthian *darg, from Proto-Iranian *dára-ka (“part, section”); cognate with Middle Persian dl (dar, “chapter, subject”), Sanskrit दल (dala, “piece”), Lithuanian dalyti (“to divide”), Russian доля (dolja), делить (delitʹ).
