[edit]- This prefix most commonly forms adjectives, e.g. небри́тый (nebrítyj, “unshaven”), неплохо́й (neploxój, “not bad, good”). However, it can also form adverbs, e.g. невпопа́д (nevpopád, “inappropriately, out of place”); nouns, in which case it's often stressed, e.g. не́друг (nédrug, “enemy”), не́жить (néžitʹ, “evil spirit; undead creature”), не́уч (néuč, “ignoramus (colloquial)”); and verbs, e.g. недоста́ть (nedostátʹ, “to lack”), неня́ть (nenjátʹ, “to not take (archaic)”).
