Finnish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Finnic *raha, borrowed from Proto-Germanic *skrahā (“squirrel skin”) (later Proto-Germanic *skrahō; compare Old Norse skrá). Originally, this meant the fur of squirrel, since that was a payment instrument before bills and coins were introduced.

- cash, piece of currency, money (hard cash, money as item; usually a coin when in the singular)
- (usually in the plural) money (available liquid assets, or the assets necessary for something)

- money, wealth
- Synonym: varallisuus
- (colloquial) money, currency
