[edit]From Proto-Albanian *rāgnja, connected to Old Norse røkja (“to take care of”), Greek ἀρήγω (arḗgō, “to assist, to defend”).[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *(a)ru(u)ē-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂rew- (“to get light, brighten”). Compare Armenian արև (arew, “sun”).[2]
