launeddas

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

English

[edit]
A Sardinian man in traditional clothing playing the launeddas.

Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed from Italian launeddas, itself a borrowing from Sardinian launèdhas, of unclear further origin; the Italian linguist Giulio Paulis, however, suggests an origin in a Latin *ligulella, derived from ligula.
