[edit]Equivalent to grammatik (“grammar”) + -er. Via German Grammatiker and Latin grammaticus from Ancient Greek γραμματικός (grammatikós, “teacher of reading and literature”). Derived from γράμματα n pl (grámmata, “alphabet, literature”).
