[edit]From Old Galician-Portuguese enojar (“to anger”), borrowed from Old Occitan enojar, from Vulgar Latin inodiāre (“make hateful”), from Latin odium (“hatred”). Compare ódio and enjoar.
Cognate with Catalan enutjar, Galician anoxar, Spanish enojar, Italian annoiare, French ennuyer and English annoy.
