dravik
Appearance
Dutch
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Middle Dutch dravik; further origin uncertain:
- Possibly a derivation from the same source as draf (“dregs from grain”), and closely related to dreps (“Bromus secalinus”). For the suffix, compare herik, wederik, and so forth; -ik is a common element in plant names.
- A connection with Latin dravoca has also been proposed. If so, this word is ultimately related to tarwe.
