Tasse

[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from French tasse, from Arabic طَاس (ṭās) (a shortening of طَسْت (ṭast)), from Middle Persian tšt' (tašt), ultimately from the past participle of the Proto-Iranian verb *taš- (“to make, construct; to cut”). Cognate with dialectal English tass (“cup”), Dutch tas (“cup”), Hunsrik Tass; more distantly, doublet of Text and Technologie.
