Add topicLuck is avery bad definition of heil. I'm proofreading a book on the evolution of the Monarchy for a professor, I am a Medievalist and archaeology intern. It's more like being blessed, which was my suggestion to the professor. There is no element of chance involved as is with the word luck.
- It simply means "well-being, prosperity, a state where things are fine" (whether bodily or otherwise). This state will often be seen as a blessing, especially in the religious sense of "salvation", but neither "luck" nor "blessing" are accurate translations.
- Probably "luck" was a mistranslation of German Glück, which also means "happiness".
