Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Finance, Economics, Management and IT Business (FEMIB 2023) which was organized and sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and held in cooperation with ACM SIGMIS - ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems. This year FEMIB was held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 23 - 24 April. We hope that these proceedings, which include areas like “Accounting and Finance”, “Economics”, “Management”, “IT Business” and “Emerging Areas in FEMIB” are interesting to a global audience of engineers, scientists and business people interested in the research topics of FEMIB. We believe the proceedings published demonstrate new and innovative solutions, and highlight challenging technical problems in each field. FEMIB received 19 paper submissions from 15 countries. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified researchers in FEMIB topic areas. Based on the classifications provided, 16% were selected as full papers. We are proud to inform you that the program also included plenary keynote lectures, given by internationally distinguished researchers, namely: Francesco Schiavone (University Parthenope of Naples, Italy), Robert Winter (University of St. Gallen, Switzerland) and Tyson R. Browning (Neeley School of Business, Texas Christian University, United States). These talks contribute to increase the overall quality of the conference and to provide a deeper understanding of the conference interest fields. The number and high quality of the papers received imposed difficult choices in the reviewing process. Each paper was reviewed by at least, two reviewers. Based on those reviews, papers that adequately balanced quality, originality and relevance to the conference themes were selected. The proceedings of FEMIB will be submitted for indexation by DBLP, Web of Science/Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), EI, SCOPUS, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar. A shortlist of papers presented at the conference will be selected for publication of extended and revised versions in a special issue of the following reputable journals: Journal of Global Information Management, Journal Expert Systems, Decision Analytics Journal and Journal of Engineering and Technology Management. All presented papers will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. To recognize the best submissions, awards based on the best combined marks of paper reviews, as assessed by the Program Committee, and the quality of the presentation, as evaluated by the chairs during the conference, were conferred at the closing session of the conference. As a final point, we would like to express our thanks, first of all, to the authors of the technical papers, whose work and dedication made it possible to put together a program that we believe is very exciting and of high technical quality. Next, we would like to thank all the members of the program committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and time. We would also like to thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and sharing their vision in their talks. Finally, we acknowledge the professional support of the INSTICC team for all organizational processes in order to make it possible for the authors to present their work and share ideas with colleagues.
