Some Experiments in Television Graphics and Animation Using a Digital Image Memory
This paper describes an experimental digital video system which can be used for interactive creation and manipulation of simple, cartoon-like graphics and animated imagery. The videographics system (known informally as “SuperPaint”) was designed and built at Xerox in 1973 as an experiment in computer imaging and digital picture composition. Since then, it has been further developed as a computer graphics research tool and used for a variety of experiments in television graphics and imaging.
