Structured lighting is an approach that has been widely utilized for 3D reconstruction in recent years due to its reliability, simplicity and effectiveness. In this paper, we propose the mounting of a structure lighting system on a gantry to improve its flexibility, efficiency and accuracy. The proposed system is able to obtain more accurate 3D models of objects with reduced time. The paper also proposes calibration methods for the system, which calculate the correspondences between the coordinate systems of the camera, the light source and the rotational axis. Parameters obtained from calibration are used to calculate the 3D data from the acquired 2D images. Experiments have been performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method when applied to the 3D reconstruction of human face.
