Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02060619A1] The invention relates to a strand guide section for guiding and cooling the cast strand of a continuous casting installation, comprising a roller bridge with crosspieces and guide rollers that is configured between lateral walls and a coolant supply for the secondary cooling of the continuous-cast strand and the cooling of the frame, said coolant supply consisting of a coolant distribution system, to which distribution pipes, spray pipes and on the end of the latter spray nozzles (6) can be connected. To maintain a compact construction, the section has water-bearing crosspieces (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) with crosspiece zones (1.0, 1.20,1.30), which are interconnected by vertical chambers (1.11, 1.12, 1.13) in such a way that only one connectable coolant supply (115, 125, 135) is required for each zone, which for the central zone (1.30) corresponds to the smallest strand width, for the first outer zone (1.20) corresponds to the average strand width and for the second outer zone (1.10) corresponds to the maximum strand width.
