Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19835643A1] The invention relates to a method for allocating channels, wherein CDMA codes form the channels for communication links. The CDMA codes are represented by sequences of symbols in a tree structure and can be derived from each other. According to various allocation strategies, the position in the sequence of symbols is determined for nodes that are still available, beginning with the root of the tree structure, whenever a difference occurs in comparison with a node that is already engaged. The sum of the positions of the engaged nodes is determined and the channel with the CDMA node corresponding to the node with a pre-determinable sum, i.e. the largest or smallest sum, is allocated. As a result, it is possible to manage links with both a fixed and variable data rate in a W- CDMA mobile radio system without having to make any substantial changes in channel allocation.
