Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0261506A2] The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with a cooling chamber between cylinder or cylinder liner and crank casing through which cooling fluid is pumped when the internal combustion engine is in operation, raised turbulence plates being fitted inside the cooling chamber on the outside of the cylinder or the cylinder liner. These turbulence plates have turbolators which are formed by recessing and bowing of individual sections of the turbulence plate. By means of these turbulence plates the transfer of heat from the cylinder or cylinder liner to the cooling fluid is increased (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
