Hokkaido and Japan

[edit]

During this period, Japan was not in firm control of the the Tohoku region, let alone Hokkaido. The Wikipedia article states that a trading post was first set up on the island in the Muromachi period, which runs from 1336 all the way to 1573. Colonization did not start in earnest until the 19th century. I think you should make the island of Hokkaido gray in your map.
