Subject: aptitude: when bzip2 fails and emits error output, screen corruption results
Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 21:50:56 -0500
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.0-3
Severity: minor

If the packages list for a source is corrupted such that bunzip2 fails
to decompress it, it produces output on stderr which corrupts the
terminal display. A Ctrl-L forces a redraw and clears the corruption.

Hello Daniel.

How do you propose to fix this in apt? Don't output errors from subprocesses at all?
Maybe, you can just filter stderr?
