Version: 0.8.8
Severity: normal

Hi.
The apt-get man page points out that users should use a frontend and lists several, starting with dselect.
A friend was asking me to help clean up the mess that resulted because he followed that recommendation.
It's way to easy to convince dselect to do damage to a system and leave it in an inconsistent state.
Dselect is also a horrible introduction to Debian.

My preference is that dselect disappear from the archive and thus the apt-get man page.
Realistically I'd be happy if we stopped recommending it, either by removing it entirely or explicitly mentioning that it is crufty.

Thanks for your consideration,

--Sam
