The Skate Edit

JD’s Skate Edit has your skatepark style locked down. Time to master that kickflip.

Originating in Los Angeles, California, skateboarding has seen a significant rise in popularity since its inception.

From Z-Boys legends Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta to icons like Tony Hawk, the sport has gradually been pushed into the mainstream over the last few decades.

So much so that in 2020, it featured for the first time at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Fashion Influence

Skateboarding’s influence on fashion trends shouldn’t be understated.

Huge brands like Nike and adidas introduced skating sub-labels with clothing and footwear for skaters, whilst brands like Vans have found huge mainstream success after starting life selling only to skaterboarders.

Chunky trainers, baggy jeans and oversized tops are all trends born out of the skateparks. You may not have noticed it, but skating’s influence is everywhere.

Baggy Is Best

If you’re looking to nail that skater aesthetic, then baggy clothes are your best friend.

Tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, it doesn’t really matter, what’s important is that it fits big. If you need to, and it doesn’t already come oversized, just grab a size up for that loose-fitting feel.

adidas Originals, Billionaire Boys Club, ICECREAM, Hoodrich and JD-exclusive Unlike Humans are the brands coming through with the goods. Their graphic tees and oversized fleecy cuts deliver big.

For the bottom half of your look, same rules apply. Make sure they’re fitting loose and long.

Whatever you opt for, whether it’s jeans, joggers, shorts or cargos, we’ve got your back with a stacked range to pick from.

Brands like Levi’s, Supply & Demand, True Religion and mnml have you covered here.

Skater Shoes

The correct creps are an absolute must.

The best skate shoes have flat soles for balance and composure on the board, whilst hardwearing materials are needed to withstand all those scuffs and scrapes.

For that classic, chunky skate aesthetic from the ‘90s and ‘00s, thick uppers, wide laces and bold branding are essential.

Vans, Nike, adidas Originals, Converse, DC Shoes and PUMA have all the essential silhouettes you’re gonna need to lock down the look.

Extra Bits

These additional accessories could round off your look perfectly.

Caps and beanies are typically weather-dependent, but they pop extra hard as part of a skate ‘fit. Plus, our stacked range of bags are ideal for getting your board from A-to-B.

If your laces aren’t wide enough for that throwback look, Crep Protect have you covered. Your treads are bound to take a beating, too, so some protective spray and a cleaning kit wouldn’t go amiss.

We recommend loading up on socks, too. You’ll probably get through a pair or two. And with that, you’re all set. Grab your board and hit the skatepark, JD-style. 👊
