Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Duffie's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • The Constitution: When it comes to learning or practicing anything, the fundamentals are always the most basic but most important consideration. In the history of the founding of nations, America stands out among the rest. It is not simply talk when people speak admiringly of the United States of America. The founding of the United States was one of the most amazing events to ever occur in the history of the World.
  • The Environment: First of all, I would like to separate two issues which are often conflated these days, pollution and the climate. These are two separate issues. During our industrial stage, we neglected our environment. Coal was burning, cars were emitting fumes and waste was not being properly disposed of. In the 1950s and 1960s, Los Angeles was completely enveloped in smog, like much of Beijing is today.
  • Veterans Affairs: The history of inadequate treatment for veterans goes back to before the VA as we know it today was even established in 1930. In fact, the VA was created to replace the Veterans Bureau because the Veterans Bureau was, believe it or not, too corrupt. But the corruption and failures have continued to the present day.
  • National Security: From the bloody jungles of Vietnam and the subsequent rise of the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields to the desert war-zones of Iraq and the subsequent rise of the Islamic state—and all the lost lives, domestic US division and public debt which ensued as a result—I have lost all confidence in our nation’s leaders to successfully plan and implement any kind of successful prolonged military undertaking.
  • Guns: Ratified in 1791, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
