Philip Grella is a judge of the New York Court of Claims and an acting justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court in New York. He was appointed to the Court of Claims in 2003 and was reappointed in 2010. He was appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 2008.[1]

Grella attended St. John's University - Jamaica, NY for his Bachelor of Arts and J.D. degrees.[1][2]
Career
Grella began his career in 1972 working in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. He served there through 1996 in the various roles of Trial Attorney for the Major Offense Bureau, Chief of the Rackets Bureau, Chief of the District Court Bureau and Chief of County Court Felony Trial Bureau. He also served as a private practice lawyer with Hession and Bekoff for a short time in 2003.
His judicial career began in 1996 when he was appointed to the Nassau County District Court. The following year, he was elected to a full term on that court, where he served through 2002. In 2003, he was appointed to the Court of Claims. He also served as an acting justice of the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term from 2003 to 2004 and as an Acting Justice of the Nassau County Family Court from 2004 to 2008. In 2008, he was appointed to the Nassau County Supreme Court as an acting justice.[1]
