Jonathan Jaech
Jonathan Jaech was a Libertarian candidate for California Attorney General in the 2014 elections.[1]
Biography
Jaech is a long-time California resident.[2]
He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1988.[3] Following graduation, he worked as a mechanical engineer for Boeing, the University of California Space Sciences Lab and Orcon Corporation.[2]
Jaech went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1997. At the time of his candidacy, Jaech was working as a patent attorney.[3]

Jaech submitted the following statement to Ballotpedia:[3]

If elected, I would use the office of Attorney General to uphold the Bill of Rights, including the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms and the right of self-defense. To protect privacy rights against unreasonable searches and seizures. To end prosecution for possession or distribution of medical cannabis, and cease all cooperation with federal police seeking to enforce federal laws that contradict California law. To instruct jurors regarding their right and responsibility to judge both the facts of the case and the justice of the law applied. To end prosecution of all victimless crimes where there is no possibility of harm to a victim. To stop seeking the death penalty and work on reforming the penal code towards restitutionary justice. To investigate and prosecute police misconduct, and reform police training to emphasize public safety and civil rights. To end civil asset forfeiture. To appoint fair judges who respect civil rights and justly-acquired property rights. To protect the environment and public health by investigating and prosecuting polluters.[4] |

Jaech ran for election to the office of Attorney General of California. Jaech sought one of two possible nominations in the primary on June 3, 2014. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
