Jon Pike is the Utah Commissioner of Insurance. He assumed office on February 4, 2021. His term ended on January 6, 2025.
He was appointed by Gov. Spencer Cox (R) on December 21, 2020.[1]
Biography
Pike earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and an MBA from Westminster College. At the time of his appointment as commissioner of insurance, Pike served as mayor of St. George, Utah, to which he was elected in 2013. In 2007, he was elected to the St. George City Council.[2]
Political career
Utah Commissioner of Insurance (2021-Present)
Pike was appointed acting Utah Commissioner of Insurance on December 21, 2020 by Gov. Spencer Cox (R). He began serving as acting commissioner on January 5, 2021, succeeding interim officeholder Tanji Northrup. Pike became the permanent insurance commissioner on February 4, 2021.[1]
Mayor of St. George, Utah (2013-2021)
Pike was elected mayor of St. George, Utah in 2013. He left office on January 4, 2021, in order to begin serving as acting Utah Commissioner of Insurance.[1]
