Campaign themes

2016

Neuhaus' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Control Government Spending

  • Excerpt: "Our families must live within our means, so should our State Government. Gregg Neuhaus will use the same common sense in Lincoln that you do sitting around the kitchen table balancing your checkbook. He will work to eliminate wasteful spending and look for efficiencies to cut the state budget."

Reduce Our Tax Burden

  • Excerpt: "In today’s economy, families often struggle to make ends meet. Some, especially seniors on a fixed budget, are forced to decide which bills they can pay each month. Gregg Neuhaus will fight to reduce the tax burden on our hard working families and businesses. He will fight to eliminate the State income tax on social security benefits and military retirement pay. Gregg understands that it is your money and you deserve to keep more of it."

Protecting Our Families

  • Excerpt: "There is no more important job than protecting our families. Gregg Neuhaus will fight for tough laws and punishment for violent criminals and sexual predators. He will work to eliminate the early “good-time” release of violent criminals and gang members, and he will work to make sure we have a viable method to carry out the death penalty for those convicted of the most heinous capital crimes."

Quality Education

  • Excerpt: "There is nothing more important for our children’s future than a quality education. As your state senator, Gregg Neuhaus will make sure our local schools have the resources they need. He will fight for local control, and he will make sure that our education dollars go to classroom education - not a bloated bureaucracy."

Vocational Education And Jobs Training

  • Excerpt: "Not all students are college bound after graduation. Gregg Neuhaus understands that the availability of vocational education and jobs training is key to not only the future of many young adults, but it also helps provide a well-trained work force to grow businesses and our economy. He will work with our schools and local businesses to expand these opportunities."
