Geoff Michel (b. November 13, 1963) is a former Republican member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 41 from 2003 to 2013 and serving as state Senate deputy majority leader.

Before serving in the Senate, Michel served as legal counsel for former Independent-Republican Governor Arne Carlson and as a legislative assistant to Congressman Bill Frenzel.[1]

Michel earned his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota.[1]

Michel won re-election to the 41st District seat in 2010. He faced Bill Reichert in the primary. Steve Elkins ran for the seat on the DFL ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 7, 2006, Michel won re-election to the 41st District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating opponents Andrew Borene (DFL) and Julie Risser (G).[3]

The Taxpayers League of Minnesota, a Minnesota-based taxpayer advocacy organization, releases a legislative scorecard for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota State Senate once a year. The scorecard gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on tax issues and “their efforts to balance the state budget without a tax increase.” The organization also compiles a legislator’s individual "Lifetime Score."[4]
