Barry D. Kramer was a justice of the Schenectady County Supreme Court in the 4th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the court on November 3, 2009 and is a Democrat.[1][2][3][4] He retired at the end of 2012, due to reaching the mandatory retirement age for judges in New York.[5]

Biography and Education

Kramer received his B.A. degree from New York University in 1964 and his J.D. from the Albany Law School of Union University in 1968. Prior to attending law school, he was a professional basketball player in the NBA from 1964 to 1965.[3][4]

Career

Kramer worked as a partner and President of the firm Higgins, Roberts, Beyerl & Coan, P.C. for 25 years (1968 to 1993). He then served as Schenectady County Surrogate's Court Judge from 1993 to 2009. For most of this time, he was also a full-time Acting Supreme Court Justice. He joined the Supreme Court in 2010.[3][4]
