Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Hicks' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Implement the Fair Tax: We must stop taxing income and tax consumption instead. Our current system punishes hard work and achievement while rewarding special interests and the entitlement culture. Angela wants to eliminate the income tax and replace it with the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax would mean: no withholdings from pay checks, no Social Security deductions, no Medicare deductions, no estate taxes, no capital gains taxes and no corporate taxes. In short, everybody plays; everybody pays with the Fair Tax.
  • Secure Our Borders: It is the federal government’s responsibility to secure our borders- period. Angela will demand that the federal government meets its obligation to stop the unsustainable flow of illegal immigrants by constructing appropriate infrastructure, surveillance techniques, and border patrols. The current open border policy makes Americans less safe.
  • Support Our Troops and Veterans: Some would pretend we are not still at war. Angela has not forgotten and will support our men and women in harm’s way both at home and abroad. That means providing our armed forces with the best weapons and the best intelligence available, something Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base know how to do. When our troops return victorious, Angela will work to have a quality Veteran’s Administration waiting to serve them.
  • Reduce Spending: Our federal government doesn’t have a tax problem; it has a spending problem. Solutions would include implementing the One Cent Spending Reduction Act of 2011, known as the Penny Plan. We must eliminate the debt accelerating, Current Services Baseline Budgeting process Now.
  • Real Health Care Reform: America has the greatest health care system in the world. We care more, cure more, and create more medical solutions than any country. Without a doubt, rising costs are an issue, but the answer is not a government takeover of healthcare as is the failed Obamacare. Angela would support nationwide insurance competition and elevate our PA-Nurse Practitioner Professionals to play a greater role in directing and delivering healthcare. She supports federal Tort Reform, legislation that would stop “junk lawsuits” and ensure the loser pays.
