David needs to turn in a Festa-vil-worthy performance on Monday night at Target Field. (It’s a stretch, but so is the Twins winning this game, so...)

Since winning the first three games of their four-game road series at Texas in mid-August, the Twins have gone 6-16. The biggest blow came just this past weekend, losing two of three at Kansas City and scoring a total of two runs across the three games.

Now, the Twins play host to the Angels and Reds for three games apiece before heading out for a season-defining four games in Cleveland early next week.

Nothing has gone to plan for the Twins of late. Their injured stars are still out. The defense has been spotty. The starters have been inconsistent, save for Pablo Lopez (3 ER over 26 23 innings during the 6-16 stretch) and Bailey Ober (four of five quality starts). The bullpen has taken a downturn. And the offense has largely been putrid.

David Festa will climb the hill on Monday evening. The rookie righthander has been decent, only allowing three earned runs once in his last eight starts. On the flip side, he’s only pitched beyond the fifth inning once during that stretch.

He’ll be opposed by the Angels’ Reid Detmers, who is 3-6 with a 5.87 ERA on the season but gave up just two earned runs in six innings against the Dodgers last time out.

Enjoy Monday evening baseball!
