Baseball moves backstage

We are all in this together

All eyes should be on our Nations Capitol  the next 48 hours as history and hope mix together in preparation for a moment most of us never thought possible. Most celebrations are hokey endeavors but this one feels just right.  After a 1/2 century of life my heart rarely gets stirred these days unless sports are involved, but stirred it has been as we count down to a new era in United State politics. Right now it is spring training and the new kid in town is going to lead us to the championship. I know deep down in my heart disappointment will follow but I can't help myself from falling for his skills and the expectations this his shoulders  will be wide enough to shoulder the load of a team in deep trouble.

I have many hopes for our country but my biggest hope is that we have only one VP during the next four years. Our Jackie Robinson paved the way for some of the greatest players to ever grace the game. With so much to do I can only hope our new president will make us as proud as Jackie Robinson made us.

THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
words and music by Woody Guthrie

Chorus:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

Chorus

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

Chorus (2x)
