A record-breaking event.

Fortnite’s most recent virtual concert just wrapped up, and Epic Games already says that it was the biggest in the game’s history, with more than 14 million concurrent players. For comparison, more than 12 million concurrent players attended the Travis Scott event in 2020. If you missed it, the event will air again at 8PM ET tonight.

Thousands of Amazon workers are on strike.

Workers in more than 20 countries including the US, India, Germany, Japan, and Brazil are currently on strike or protesting, coinciding with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Amazon workers have planned similar strike actions in the past around the shopping weekend. The “Make Amazon Pay” movement is demanding better wages and working conditions, and that Amazon allows workers to join unions.

You can now swipe between your Threads feeds.

An update to the Threads app lets users switch between their various feeds on the home screen, similar to what Bluesky allows.

Over the last few weeks, Threads has rolled out a string of updates that crib from Bluesky, including adding custom feeds.

Who is responsible?!

For the anniversary edition of her album, “Goodies,” Ciara removed her collaboration with R. Kelly, but the album includes a very funny mistake: the Windows pop-up sound.

Stereogum found a couple examples of fans playing their records and finding the error on the song “1, 2 Step.” I love it, personally.

The Pixel Watch Concentric face is getting complicated.

An unreleased version of the Pixel Watch face with a ring of complications appeared in a Black Friday promo post on the Made by Google YouTube account that 9to5Google spotted.

The outlet saw the same watch face in a video about the Pixel Watch 3’s design that Google published last month that has since been made private.

A new way to follow a WhatsApp channel.

WhatsApp appears to be testing the ability to follow channels using a QR code, as spotted by WABetaInfo. As the outlet notes, QR codes could make discovery easier for businesses, for example, to share their channel with customers quickly by displaying their QR code in a store or on marketing materials.

An 1891 recording is country music history.

A recently discovered performance of “Thompson’s Old Gray Mule” is now the oldest country recording in existence. The performer is Louis Vasnier, a Black artist from New Orleans.

The recording highlights how Black musicians have shaped the genre, despite the erasure of their contributions:

“Black artists by and large, who were the ones who performed and recorded, get wiped out of the picture because they say, ‘Well, it’s not really country,’” Martin says. “So ours is partly a project of reclamation.”

Will Bluesky get a blue check?

The insurgent social platform that’s giving Threads a run for its money says it’s “exploring” additional ways to show that an account is legitimate.

Users currently can verify their accounts to weed out scammy doppelgangers by linking their website with their Bluesky account. But it gets complicated fast.

The best price ever on the best mousepad ever made — the one that charges mice automatically.

Since December 2021, I’ve never had to think about charging my Logitech wireless gaming mouse. It charges just by sitting atop this pricey mousepad. No alignment necessary. And now, that pricey mousepad is the best price it’s ever been: $87 at Amazon. That’s still cash, but seriously: I’ve never looked back.

Note: If you buy something from the link, we might get affiliate revenue.

Did MSI accidentally let slip when its new Claw handhelds will ship?

The Claw 8 AI Plus and Claw 7 AI Plus have appeared on Amazon for $899 and $799 respectively, and will ship Dec. 25th and Dec. 1st respectively, per Videocardz... but the listings seem to have been stripped of those crucial details now.

MSI already announced both handhelds in June as quick followups to the embarrassing original. Lunar Lake could bring better performance and battery, but apparently not pricing.

This tiny gaming laptop has two keyboards, one beneath the other.

I have a hard time believing this OneGx2 could be comfortable to hold, but major kudos if OneXPlayer can figure it out! I’m currently toying with a similar GPD machine that hides its joysticks beneath little covers, but a split keyboard and sticks beneath a full keyboard is something else.

Selling Chrome might not be the most painful part of the DOJ’s antitrust demands for Google.

Lenovo accidentally confirms Legion Go S yet again — with a budget AMD chip.

If you read my Lenovo Legion Go review and thought “that but less expensive and cumbersome,” Videocardz may have good news: the unannounced smaller “Legion Go S 8ARP1” now has a firmware update for its unannounced AMD Rembrandt APU. That’s a last-gen architecture that should be more affordable than AMD’s “Extreme” line.

Also, though: the original Legion Go is its best price ever right now.

GM wants to protect its robotaxis from ‘adversarial’ pedestrians.

If that sounds absurd, scroll down to see the illustration included in the automaker’s patent application (as noticed by Autoguide). The filing describes a system to protect autonomous vehicles from “adversarial behavior” from “vulnerable road users” like pedestrians. Sure, there have been a handful of incidents of people attacking and vandalizing driverless cars. But a 5,000-pound car has certain inherent advantages when facing off against a 150-lb person, regardless of the technology onboard.

Riot Games now reserves the right to police what you say about League of Legends and Valorant.

Riot says it’ll punish creators who violate its ToS anywhere on the internet, not just within its games:

Though we aren’t going to proactively monitor everything that happens across social media, it is now within our rights to issue penalties in-game when that content is brought to our attention.

Examples: hateful slurs, social media posts that promote rulebreaking, stream sniping, and offers to buy and sell accounts. Also, Riot says it’ll now ban players across all its games at once.

A black PlayStation Portal is reportedly on the way.

Bilibil-kun, the Dealabs leaker who correctly revealed the design of the PlayStation 5 Pro, now says the currently white PS Portal will soon be available in black for the same $200 price.

While the PS Portal can only stream games, it recently got updated to stream some of them from the cloud. Meanwhile, Sony’s also reportedly working on a true Nintendo Switch / Steam Deck rival.

Gmail on Android now lets you drag and drop contacts between “To” “CC” and “BCC” instead of retyping them.

I would have sworn this feature already existed — probably because it does on desktop Gmail! But Google says it’s new for Android. Just expand your CC and BCC fields, drop your finger atop any email address for a moment, then drag it where you’d like.
