This special issue aims at discussing state-of-the-art and novel video processing technologies, theories and methods, and applications of quality metrics in consumer video. It is intended to be a chance for leading researchers and developers from industry and academia to present recent advances on these topics. Our starting point is the International Workshop on Video Processing and Quality Metrics for Consumer Electronics – VPQM which was held for the first time in 2005 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The special issue will be open but not restricted to VPQM participants.
