NASA Astronaut Scott D. Tingle
Scott “Maker” D. Tingle was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2009 and most recently served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station as part of Expedition 54 and 55.
Quick Facts
Tingle spent three years with the Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, California, as a member of technical staff in their Propulsion Department.
Tingle was commissioned as a naval officer in 1991 and earned his wings of gold as a naval aviator in 1993.
Tingle has accumulated more than 4,500 flight hours in 55 types of aircraft, 750 carrier arrestments and 54 combat missions.

Extravehicular crewmember 2 (EV2) Scott Tingle works to remove the spare Latching End Effector (LEE) from External Stowage Platform 2 (ESP2) for installation on the Canadarm2 Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS). Photo was taken by EV1 during Extravehicular Activity 47 (EVA 47).

(8 March 2018) NASA astronaut Scott Tingle eats a piece of lettuce harvested as part of the ongoing space crop study VEG-03. The botany experiment uses the Veggie plant growth facility to cultivate a type of cabbage, lettuce and mizuna which are harvested on-orbit with some samples consumed by astronauts and others returned to Earth for testing.
