Injury: Left oblique soreness
Expected return: Day to day

SS Dansby Swanson
Injury: Core muscle
Expected return: Opening Day
Status: Underwent surgery in October. Swanson has resumed regular baseball activities and is not expected to miss any time. (updated Feb. 15)
RHP Brandon Birdsell
Injury: Right lat strain
Expected return: April
Status: Birdsell (Cubs prospect and non-roster invitee) is expected to be shut down for three-to-four weeks after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain of his right lat, per manager Craig Counsell. (Feb. 15)
2B Nico Hoerner
Injury: Right flexor tendon
Expected return: Early 2025
