What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

In 1997, I started college and got my first email address. They let you pick what you wanted at the time (they don't at this school anymore). I chose drezdn because it looked cool, sounded cool, and seemed to have an ambiguity about it.

Aside from a bit of German heritage in my blood, I don't really have any connection the city the name phonetically spells.

I joined Metafilter after reading about it in Brill's Content. Foolishly, I made my first horrible post the next day. This was back during the golden days when logins were free and everyone had cameras.
