Yoga Business Wear

I really like the clothing made by Lulu Lemon Lab. I'm looking for other companies that make clothing that is similar. Do you know any clothing companies that do clothes that could are a) comfortable like yoga clothes, b) business formal and c) urban in styling?

Smart electronic music to sweat to

Need music to keep me going at the gym. The caveat is that it isn't mindless pop music, but something with some complexity.

It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether.

The History Channel ranked the world's ten most extreme airports in a program of that same name. The airports on the list are included because of their extreme locations at high altitudes, difficult approaches, or short runways, all of which make landings challenging, and some would say even dangerous. Folks in the Pilots of America forum discussed the picks, and the most extreme airports they've flown.

20 years of Essential mixes: a kaleidoscope of sounds

For younger fans of electronic music, the Essential Mix archive* is a time capsule that allows them to listen to sets that took place before they were born; for others, it’s a treasure chest of musical memories that allows them to re-visit the glory days. And what better way to celebrate 20 years than with a party? Rather than the usual broadcast from Tong’s studio, fans had the opportunity to join in on the fun at the Manchester Warehouse Project, with an absolutely stellar line-up pitting veterans of the scene back-to-back with rising stars.

World War I in Color is a documentary designed to make the Great War come alive for a 21st-century audience. The events of 1914-18 are authoritatively narrated by Kenneth Branagh, who presents the military and political overview, while interviews with historians add different perspectives in six 48 minute installments annotated within.

What online custom makers of men's dress shirts can you recommend?

There are now several internet retailers selling custom men's dress shirts at prices below $100/shirt (depending, of course, on the fabric). Supposedly, you put in your measurements, pick the fabric you would like, make some choices about collars and buttons, and then they make and send you shirts that fit. I have orangutan-like arms and need to dress well for work, so I'd like to try ordering a couple shirts. I've looked at several of the websites, and they seem promising. However, I'd hate to spend the money and then find the shirts weren't actually well-made. So, can anyone recommend one of these online shirtmakers?

Non-fiction about the Great Outdoors

I've recently discovered that I love reading non-fiction about the Great Outdoors and the things that happen there. I'm talking about books like 'Touching the Void' by Joe Simpson, and Jon Krakauer's books 'Into Thin Air' and 'Into the Wild'. It doesn't necessarily have to be about disasters and tragedies: I really loved this recent FPP about the Alaskan Iditarod. I want to read (but haven't yet) 'Into the Silence: the Great War, Mallory and the Conquest of Everest'. Please recommend me other books in this vein?

DJ Shadow: same as he ever was

On December 14, 2012, DJ Shadow, best-known for his genre-breaking Endtroducing... was booted off the stage in the middle of his set, later tweeting about the incident and his fit there. The venue, Mansion has since issued an an apology, but already has a bit of a reputation for kicking DJs off the stage, having done it to DJ Dennis Ferrer.

So what did Shadow get booted for? Well, why not give it a listen for yourself?

Jamie Johnson, a heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, uses his family connections to gain a critical insider’s perspective and remarkable unguarded interviews of those who hold 50% of America’s wealth in two self-made documentaries: The One Percent (parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) and Born Rich, along with a Vanity Fair blog. What's the wholsale price of clothing?

This weekend I picked up of a nice pair of shorts marked down from $69.99 to $39.99. I felt great getting a "bargain," then realized that even at the lower price the store still made a nice profit. This is not to say I felt duped. I know what I pay is what the item costs me, and that what it costs the store is irrelevant once I've made the decision to buy, but still I wonder: how much do my $150 jeans cost Nordstom, is my $79 Lacoste pique polo identical to that sold at JC Penney for $14.99?

International Relations 101

I read the news (BBC) daily and pick up The Economist once in awhile (it's expensive!). I'm curious and want to know what is going on in the world, but most of the time I can't put anything into perspective and understand what this means for the rest of the world or the possible impact on my life. For example, I'm not really sure why Bush started a war in Afghanistan, or the repercussions of the Gaza flotilla attack. I like how The Economist will analyze issues and say "X happened. This is bad because Y might happen now." or "A is mad because B did this in the past." in short, up front sentences. When I try to look people/events up on Wikipedia or Google, it's overwhelming because there is TOO much information to read, and I'm constantly having to look up more and more and this easily turns into hours of reading and 60 tabs open on my browser. How can I get a general grasp of international relations?

Dust off your frying pan and hide your wallet!

Eating healthy on a budget isn't just for hipsters on food stamps. While some have called Michael Pollan and Mark Bittman's ideas about cooking and eating "elitist," there are many cooks who are smart enough to know that cooking at home is the only way to eat healthy on a budget. While Jamie Oliver pledges to give all school children "10 recipes that will save their lives," almost anyone on any budget can change the way they shop for, prepare, and think about food.

Difference between $100 men's dress shoes and $500 men's dress shoes?

What is the noticeable difference between a $100 pair of men's dress shoes and a $500 pair of men's dress shoes? I wear standard, department store $100 dress shoes to work every day (I used to wear Cole Haan; now I wear Johnston & Murphy). When the $100 shoe soles wear out, I have them re-soled. They do end up looking beat-up fairly quickly, even with polishing. I have been told that, if I spend more money on the shoes, they will last longer and the investment will be worth it.
