I'm am compiling research/inspiration on current trends for some plant-based food packaging I'm working on. I want to open up my research beyond my region, so I'm turning to you! What plant-based foods/brands have you tried*?
I am looking at creating curated/customized self-guided tours/itineraries to sell online to customers, and I want to figure out a more modern format that would really work and be fun for younger people (most tourism resources still cater to baby boomers…)
With Kindle books, is there still a way to access a file that can be transferred and read?
I have a closet full of old disks and laptops from ancient work and personal use. I'm overdue to stop harboring a junkyard and want to make sure there's nothing important on them before giving stuff the heave ho. Today's self-assigned challenge is a SmartDisk Firelite FLFW60. Yes, I know it's like trying to speak to an ancient civilization... but can you help?
The Italians are after me for a two year old driving ticket I thought I paid, what do I do?
Technology keeps changing and I know you guys are on top of it more than I am... so helllllpppp!
We want to create a database of detailed text information, photos, videos, links, etc. (whatever I can find) that can be tagged and accessed easily when we're looking to provide a client answers on a topic. Before we compile and input it all, I want to make sure we're using the best possible resource to build it instead of just throwing it all into evernote or Excel without looking into other (possibly better, easier and more flexible) solutions.
You guys are always great at helping me to understand technological possibilities... and I need your help again. I am trying to brainstorm a project that would involve a scannable card that could be custom loaded with admission fees and dollar credits for various places...
Calling all art history sleuths and Japanese signature decipherers! I was raised with my mom telling me this antique Japanese Moriage Satsuma vase was the most expensive thing in the house. She brought it home from Japan in 1957. Now I'm curious if my mom was right or wrong... (Of course I want my mom to be right, but... she wasn't always.) I see a lot of satsuma stuff online, and the values are so varied from $80 to thousands that I don't know if this piece is actually special.
"The psychology behind why (the God tiles) work is complex. It could be a combination of fearing the wrath of God (especially when one’s pants are down, or even just open) and wanting to seem RC (religiously correct)... I’ve since learned that god tiles aren’t only deployed to stop public urination. In some office buildings, for example, god tiles have been installed in stairways to keep people (OK, mostly men) from spitting on walls. They’ve also been used to prevent people from throwing garbage in certain places."
Okay, so I have a friend in Austria who looooves Ceasar salad dressing. (I used to smuggle it in my suitcase from America when I'd visit her.) As a surprise little "I'm thinking about you" gift, I've been thinking of mailing her a bottle or some salad dressing mix, but I just can't figure out how to do it at a reasonable price... German Amazon is asking for $28 to send a $5 bottle of Cardini's to Vienna. Anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks! :D
"On a sunny day at the very beginning of this millenniums, a crazy frenchman found himself in the desert of Sinai. After some puffs of a magic smoke he wondered - how come that there are no cinemas in the middle of the desert...?"
Hi guys! Okay, so I have a background is advanced art direction & design and I am looking into how to make superawesome interactive digital magazines and booklets that will kick ass and people will love. Do you have experience with this kinda platform stuff? Awesome. I don't. And most people I talk to don't, so I need your feedback and advice pretty please. And if you don't know anything about that, can you give me names of interactive books/magazines you think kick ass (and tell me why you like them) so I can check them out and be dazzled and inspired? Thanks oh, so much. :)
You guys are always supersmart and up-to-date with this kinda stuff. Help this semi-retired print designer understand the tablet/mobile magazine biz!
Is there a heavy duty lock made that is tamper-proof from pranksters wielding Crazy Glue?
I am *finally* getting an assistant to help me tackle my workload and upcoming projects, which has been a chaotic undertaking for one person. She's really smart and retentive in exactly the way an awesome assistant should be... we're determined to get super organized as a team so I want to start off on the right foot and be able to focusing on monetizing instead of answering email all day. Here's my question: what are the best apps/sites/software nowadays to manage and document big workloads, contacts, meetings, tasks brainstorms, and overall projects and stay organized easily as a team? I know there has to be some great new stuff out there that I haven't heard of.
IPad to to a digital projector... it doesn't seem to be working. Help!
You guys are always in the loop on this stuff... what's the best option nowadays for putting a nice looking, large custom calendar on an active website, one with an interface that's easy to use and customize? (Not a Wordpress plugin please, this is going to be a standard site, not a WP blog.) Thanks oodles, peeps. ;)
Is there a good Facebook coupon app besides WooBox, one that's still good for pages with large audiences?
I was an AD/Photoshop expert for years, but I've changed careers and my computer needs have become less hardcore than they used to be. I'm getting rid of old career/office stuff I don't need, but just realized I have an entire closet full of old Macs and hard drives that are full of all sorts of stuff I should probably sort through, consolidate, purge and/or save... How do people do that nowadays?
Doing some web design after being out of it a long time and my brain isn't in gear. I'm admittedly rusty and oblivious to the latest trends, codes and plugins for designing some of this basic stuff right now. Main goal: if I can make my client's dream site an awesome reality in a quick manner while remaining as lazy as possible, that would be fantastic! ;)
I have the reverse problem of most startups... within two years I built a solid and unique brand, with a high media profile and street cred, proven content and products, and a passionate audience of over 240,000 people and growing. But although people congratulate me daily on my success I'm literally exhausted and starving. People circle me daily wanting to "sponsor" me, but I've found most of them want to make money *off* of me, not pay me and help me grow. Fact is, I'm accepting now that I just can't do it all by myself and I don't even WANT to... but I'm a victim of my own quick success. Without a staff and resources I can't expand, grow and monetize as I *need* to in order to meet the demand.
Yet another WTF Mystery Photo! A friend of mine wants to know: "Anyone know where and when this picture was taken and who the girl is?" (I don't...)
There are a lot of e-blast and mailing list software options for PC, but if you have a Mac and want to send out e-mails to a lot of people in an organized way, is there any great way to go? I REALLY can't afford to use Constant Contact right now, my mailing list is large and it would cost a *bunch*.
What's currently the best plug-in (paid or free) for setting up/moderating a membership-based level to an already existing web site? I'm not a programmer, so preferably something that's relatively easy to set up, looks good to the eye, is easy to navigate and offers nice customizing options. I'm using Wordpress right now, so one that works with wp would be *most* awesome. Oh, and I'm on a Mac. Thanks!!! :)
Hooookay. So I've been asked to play in a charity poker tournament. I'm fierce at craps and was a pool shark in my past life so it appeals to me, but I've just never had a weekly poker game or anything... truth is I haven't played poker in years.
My (male) friend and I tend to flippantly call each other insulting nicknames for fun, kinda as a Jr. High flirty thing. Started with "Brat," then "Loser," then "Dork," then Turd." I need to switch it up and would like to have a list of totally impressive alternatives to pull out of my back pocket to throw him off guard when he least expects it... I need to get more creative and clever.
I need to find a great full-service business that can print and do fulfillment on thousands of 2011 calendars (they'll probably be purchased worldwide). Reasonably priced with great customer service por favor. Also, I'm a designer and the photos are going to be fantastic so I want to make sure the quality's great. Yeah, I'm demanding, I know. :) Any recommendations?
I have to put my mother into a care facility (and wow, they're expensive!). How do I thoroughly check out whether or not one will be good for her before allowing my mother anywhere near the place? I live about 2 hours away and plan to check it out but want to do as much legwork as I can beforehand. Thanks for the help.
Hey you fancy phone app developers... how do you usually charge when you're doing an app for a licensor? What's standard? What kinds of contracts and stipulations do you sign? What kinds of fee structure? And what are the things a SMART licensor should really know and pay attention to along the road while building a new app for the public? (I hope these questions make sense.)
I'm so lame with this stuff and you guys always help... so here goes. I have a DVD of a 26 minute video I need to put onto youtube. I just don't know how to extract it from the disk. I'd like to then divide it into multiple parts for viewing. I know I can't do this stuff in imovie. Suggestions? Free solutions are always preferred... :)
How to (well) organize and motivate strangers to get together to do monthly charity* work and better their community... as a fun social event. Thoughts? *(Not one specific charity, we'd rotate.)
I'm on my way to Austria for a few weeks. Looking for a handy German language app for my Blackberry Tour to help me as I struggle to remember the language. Is there one? While we're here, any other good world travel apps you recommend?
Most awesome, pretty and easy to figure out Flickr image gallery plug-in for Word Press?
I need visual examples of vintage influences (1920s-1950s) in current popular culture to prove retro design is still hip with the cool kids.
Living with rosacea... tips please.

I know you are not a vet. But is there any way to cure a dog's ear infections without antibiotics and a trip to the vet?
Astronaut Michael Collins – "I really believe that if the political leaders of the world could see their planet from a distance of 100,000 miles their outlook could be fundamentally changed. That all-important border would be invisible, that noisy argument silenced. The tiny globe would continue to turn, serenely ignoring its subdivisions, presenting a unified façade that would cry out for unified understanding, for homogeneous treatment. The earth must become as it appears: blue and white, not capitalist or Communist; blue and white, not rich or poor; blue and white, not envious or envied."

I want to teach myself to be more professional at digital video production. Are there any classes/seminars (online or in L.A.) that you'd recommend? If I could live in my dream world, I'd get to take the Travel Channel video course but without spending $2000 I don't have and having to drive to Santa Barbara for it. Thoughts?
Bleeding billboard. Yeah, that's what I said.
The title sequences and credits are looking blurry on the videos I'm posting to WordPress. I need to find out the tricks to posting the best quality video possible to my blog, but I'm new to this. Help!
A handy rating guide to 1980s saxophone solos -- "I realized about 5 years ago that at some point in the 80s, lots of the popular music started incorporating saxophone solos into their songs. Some of them are fine, but most of them are ridiculous to have in the songs. I have attempted to separate the quality and appropriateness of the solos from what I think of the song as a whole..."
I've inherited a Canon Optura 100 1.3 Megapixel video camera. There's a tiny video of my dad on there that I want to put on YouTube for relatives. I haven't owned a video camera before and really want to learn how to use this, also for other things... but the manual is huge! I've tried sifting through it, but I have a Mac and I see nothing about Mac compatibility anywhere and I don't see any cables that look familiar. I know it *should* be easy... hellppp!
Hidden Los Angeles This idea has been in my head for a long time, I wanted to start a site that focuses on the Los Angeles that the natives know and live in... not the fantasy (both good and bad) that people see on tv. So far so good. Yay! I can already tell it's going to be a fun project. :)
