The Maryland Council on Problem Gambling is very excited to partner with the faith/spiritual communities in the jurisdictions of Allegany County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Cecil County, Prince George’s County, and Worcester County to increase prevention and wellness opportunities for those affected by problem gambling.
Mission of MCPG
The Maryland Council on Problem Gambling (MCPG) is a non-profit 501-c-3 corporation. Our mission is primarily one of advocacy for those affected by gambling problems. We work to increase public awareness about problem gambling and advocate for treatment, education, prevention and research for those adversely affected by gambling and for the community at large.
What
We know that less than 10% of individuals with gambling disorders ever seek help. Clergy and lay ministers may be in the unique position of trust to direct these individuals to available resources. To meet our strategic goal of increasing MCPG’s prevention and wellness opportunities within faith and spiritual communities, we are offering small grants to increase awareness, provide education, and/or provide assistance in the area of problem gambling to faith/spiritual communities. This small grant opportunity furthers problem gambling wellness as part of the Behavioral Health Administration and Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling statewide efforts.
