Bomb Derby is the third available Bros. Attack that Mario can use in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, and Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In Dream Team, Mario obtains this Bros. Attack after gathering 10 Attack Pieces in Driftwood Shore. In Paper Jam, Mario obtains this Bros. Attack after throwing a Bomb Bud at Nabbit during the first visit in Gloomy Woods. In Brothership, Mario obtains this Bros. Attack from Technikki on Shipshape Island after the first visit to Heatfreeze Island.
Immediately after initiating this attack, Mario and Luigi run into the foreground, and Mario will chuck a bomb into the sky, which causes twelve bombs to fall on to Luigi, all of which Luigi catches in a stack. The player must move the / to the right to pass the bombs to Mario, and press / so Mario can hit the bomb toward the enemies with his hammer, each exploding upon contact. If Luigi takes too long to pass the bombs to Mario, any remaining bombs will explode and the Bros. Attack will end. The bombs will also bounce out of sight if Mario fails to hit them. At the end of the stack lies a big bomb, which will do regular damage like the other bombs and end the attack. Hitting five, seven, nine and twelve bombs will result in a "OK!", "Good!", "Great!" and "Excellent!" rating respectively. In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, the last bomb deals higher damage and all the bombs do fire damage. If a bomb kills the last enemy in the battlefield, the remaining bombs explode early in Dream Team, while the enemy only dies after the bombs explode or Mario strikes the last bomb in Paper Jam and Brothership. In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, an "Excellent!" rating causes the last bomb to open up and unleash missiles on all enemies. The bombs also have a different appearance, and the criteria to attain "Okay!" and "Good!" ratings are more lenient, with the required number of bombs for each rating being decreased from 5 and 7 to 3 and 6, respectively. Luigi also has a panicked expression with the bombs in his hands.
Successfully hitting a bomb in the Mad Skillathon earns two points. In addition, there are dark purple bombs with a Boo symbol that vanish before reaching Mario, blue bombs that fly at him faster (forcing the player to press the A button sooner, and brown bombs that take longer to reach Mario. Hitting one of the latter three bombs nets five points. The bombs also fly at enemies more randomly.

Trivia[edit]
- The design of the bombs in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam are similar to the bombs used by Lemmy Koopa in New Super Mario Bros. U. Incidentally, they also resemble Bomb Kirby's bombs from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and onwards.
- Bomb Derby, the Green Shell, the Red Shell, and Fire Flower are the only Bros. Attacks to appear in at least three games in the Mario & Luigi series.
- Bomb Derby is also the only Bros. Attack to appear in every game in the series following its first appearance.
