Last week, we celebrated the remarkable retirement of Terry Custer, Deputy Chief of the Maryland Capitol Police. After an extraordinary 50 years of dedicated service to the state of Maryland, Terry leaves behind a legacy of unwavering commitment, leadership, and excellence. Terry’s career has been a testament to the values of public service, and his contributions have made a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of our state. We thank him for his half-century of service and for setting an inspiring example for all who follow in his footsteps. Congratulations on your retirement, Terry! You have more than earned this next chapter of relaxation and new adventures. Wishing you all the best!

DGS is proud to support our local small, minority, and women-owned businesses. In FY24, we awarded over $144.8 million to Minority Business Enterprises, including $71.6 million to women-owned businesses. Together, we’re building stronger communities through inclusivity and opportunity!
I’m proud to say that this month, Maryland was named the top state for minority-owned businesses. Thanks to programs like our Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Business Account, we’ve supported more than 170 businesses and nearly 2,600 jobs.

As National Apprenticeship Week comes to an end, DGS is excited to launch the nation’s first public procurement apprenticeship initiative. The program focuses on setting students up for success by providing a structured pathway that equips participants with essential skills for meaningful careers in public service. DGS was happy to partner with NASPO to create this valuable program. Governor Moore announced this First-Ever Public Procurement Apprenticeship Program in a press release earlier today. https://lnkd.in/gyXuC_7B
