MLB Draft 2019

The 2019 MLB draft takes place from June 3-5. The first two rounds will be broadcast on MLB Network, and the whole thing is viewable (“viewable”—there isn’t video for the late rounds, only audio) for free on MLB.com. The Mariners have the following picks in the draft:

• 20 (1st round)
• 59 (2nd round)
• 76 (Competitive Balance Round B, received in trade from Cleveland)
• 97 (3rd round)
• 126 (4th round)
• And then the 19th pick in every round from 5-40, starting with pick number 156.

With neither Dallas Keuchel nor Craig Kimbrel expected to sign with a club before the draft, this order should remain consistent, with neither the Astros nor the Red Sox gaining an extra pick as compensation, nor another team forfeiting their pick. (Grinch smile dot gif.)

The Mariners have about $7.5 million to spend in the draft, one of the lower amounts available, which might play a role in their draft strategy.
